You can think and wonder all you like in sales but the key is to make things happen! Here is why you need to take action.

Saturday Sales Tips

IF NOT YOU THEN WHO? IF NOT NOW THEN WHEN?

Hi

Welcome to the penultimate email of 2018!  Can you believe that the New Year is just around the corner?
So, how has this month been for you?  Are you working up to the wire or have things been winding down since you opened the first door on the advent calendar? I’m working right up until Christmas Eve so that I can get everything I want to be completed before I take a little time out with the family.  For me getting things done, is essential… and this is the theme of this week’s email.

Taking Action to ensure SUCCESS.

When it comes to making taking action or making changes in our lives, especially those that hold an element of risk, we often put it off for many different reasons. Maybe you feel the time isn’t quite right, you feel you’re not good enough, or maybe your WHY just isn’t strong enough.

A classic reason for not taking action is that you feel the timing isn’t right.  Nine times out of ten, this is an excuse for not acting at all. Think about what’s really holding you back. When it comes to reasons such as Finance and Time, think about how you can cut back on non-essential expenses, or what you can cut out of your weekly schedule to allow you the time to do the things you want to do. Stop making excuses not to do them and act! Is the image below suited for you??

Fear is another factor that holds us back from taking action.  Fear of what others will think of you, fear of failing, or fear of being found out that you’re a fraud!

The latter is also known as Imposter Syndrome. These unwarranted feelings of insecurity make us feel like we’re not worthy of our success, or that our thoughts are not warranted as being important.

The positive thing to note is that Imposter Syndrome is a symptom of success and that the most successful people in the world suffer with it. Most of the time, it simply means that you are living outside of your comfort zone and that can only be a good thing.

There are many ways to overcome these feelings…

·       Identify what is knocking your confidence
·       Talk to a good friend or mentor
·       Remember that the people that got you to this point are incredibly competent
·       Remind yourself of all your achievements so far
·       Think about what you would do if there was no chance of failure… then do it
·       Start using more confident, assertive language… and believe in what you are saying.

One way to FOCUS on the things you want to change is to identify your WHY. What will happen as a result of you making these changes? Think about all the things you will be able to do.  Think about how it will make you feel and visualise yourself feeling this way.  Take some time to see the picture in your head and resonate with how life will be if you make these changes.  Your reason for why you are doing these things needs to be so big that it overtakes the fear you have of not doing it.

In the latter part of 2017, I decided that in 2018 I would start a new business as a Sales Mentor. Having worked in the sales industry for over 20 years and running my own CRM company, I had the skills I needed to mentor others and help them achieve better sales success.  I knew what worked but I also had the scars and areas where I failed and both insights would allow me to help others.

The truth is, I am passionate about helping entrepreneurs change their mindset to get better sales results and this was the main driver in my taking the leap. There really is no better feeling than clinching a deal, however big or small, and my vision was to be able to pass on the knowledge I had gained over the years to help others.

From this vision I then had to take the action to make it happen.  This took planning, hard work, focus and determination – but the only way to turn visions and dreams into a reality is to keep pushing forward.  When you put the effort in, you reap the rewards.

The end of the year is the perfect time to reflect on achievements of the last 12 months and to celebrate how far you have come.  Taking action in January I started to build up my brand and reach out to prospects. In the infancy stages this felt like a huge mountain to climb, but with determination and perseverance I have achieved the following;

·       Worked with 14 different clients
·       Ran 23 sales workshops
·       Recorded 59 videos for my YouTube channel
·       Wrote 69 blogs for my website
·       Created a weekly Saturday Sales Tips email and sent an email each Sat (this is email 39 now!)
·       Built up my social media platforms putting out curated and created content every day
·       Grown my James White Sales Team from one to five people.

Whilst there were many times where days were long (and still are!), and the motivation to keep going wavered, I continued to make things happen by taking action… to be successful you’re never done with moving forward. Next year holds even big visions… authoring a book, working with new partnerships, releasing a new sales model and launching additional workshops and training courses.

So, what do you have planned for 2019? Will it be a year of change and growth for you and your business? One thing’s for sure if you don’t have a vision, put together a plan and take action, those dreams for the year ahead will simply remain just that… dreams.

Write that email, send that proposal, make that call, produce that content.  Make your WHY bigger than your FEAR and you WILL turn it around. When it comes to success, you get what you deserve, and that comes from taking ACTION!

So I leave you with that thought in mind and with a funny image to finish! The guys in the photo below (which I believe is one of the best Christmas photos ever from a few years ago) had an idea of what to dress up as when they went out! They had a plan, they took action and the result was well outstanding I think?

Genius if you ask me and something that makes me smile when I look at it! I hope you agree
It leaves me just to say thanks for reading and being part of my Saturday Sales emails. I trust you enjoy them and find them useful.

I wish you a joyful and restful Christmas. I can't wait to work with you and help you achieve your goals in 2019!

Have fun and stay safe
